We exercise our voting right for listed equities through the ISS proxy voting platform. We retain the right to vote and can instruct voting directly through this platform.

We instruct voting on our shares in New Zealand companies directly.

While we will generally vote as set out in our voting policy and guidelines, as our Global Voting Policy & Guidelines set out in special circumstances we may respond to specific issues on a case-by-case basis.

Where we participate in securities lending, we will retain the right to recall shares to vote and the right to withhold shares from lending, in order to exercise our voting rights on those securities, including to address ESG issues.

You can see how we have voted via our reporting platform.  It contains data from 1 July 2018 and is updated on an ongoing basis.  Information on how the NZ Super Fund’s shares have been voted is provided by company, country and topic.
