Haere Mai!
We are the Kaitiaki / Guardians of New Zealand Superannuation. We are proud of our Te Whāinga / Our purpose: Sustainable investment delivering strong returns for all New Zealanders. We invest government contributions to the NZ Super Fund, a global investment fund helping to ensure the country can pay for the growing cost of universal superannuation (New Zealand Superannuation) in the future. We also oversee the Elevate Fund, which invests in small, fast-growing New Zealand companies.
At the Guardians there’s an energy, passion and a shared commitment to excellence: in 2024 the NZ Super Fund was named the world’s best-performing sovereign wealth fund. The work is complex, innovative and intellectually stimulating. Sustainable finance, including a commitment to being net zero by 2050, is core to our Mātāpono / way of working.

Why this role matters

  • Lead platform governance and decision-making in line with architecture, security, risk and compliance requirements

  • Set meaningful measures for service health, adoption, user experience, cost and value, and use them to drive decisions

  • Manage vendors and partners across service performance, licensing, contracts, roadmap alignment and continual improvement

  • Lead and develop Platform Engineers, building clear ownership and shifting the team from reactive to proactive

  • Champion simplification, standardisation, automation and the smart adoption of emerging technologies, including AI

What you bring
  • Experience owning or leading enterprise or business application platforms (ServiceNow, ERP or HCM highly regarded) in a similar organisational environment

  • A track record of developing and delivering platform strategies and roadmaps that create measurable business value

  • Experience balancing business priorities, technology opportunities, risk and operational needs when making platform decisions

  • Proven leadership, including coaching, mentoring and building capability in technical teams

  • Commercial nous, with experience managing vendors, licensing, contracts and service performance

  • A strong understanding of platform governance, service management, security, risk and compliance

  • Experience in product-led, platform-led or service-oriented operating models, and Agile, DevOps or modern delivery environments

  • The ability to translate technical concepts into clear, business-focused outcomes, and to build trusted partnerships across business and technology

What we offer

  • A dynamic, exciting place to work with a team united by our common purpose of sustainable investment delivering strong returns for all New Zealanders.
